The updated Jeep Meridian has arrived with fewer seats and more features, and its safety specification has been evaluated against Gobar NCRAP 2024 criteria.
The new base Jeep Meridian is the Meridian 'Longitude', which has been making headlines for its attractive price and five-seat option. However, Jeep have not taken the opportunity to update this version's safety specification. The omission of basic rear-seat safety features like an automatic three-point seatbelt in the rear centre seat, and rear seatbelt reminders — both ubiquitous in 2024 — means it is 'NOT RECOMMENDED' according to Gobar NCRAP. However, it has electronic stability control, ISOFIX anchorages and side and curtain airbags (not covering the third row in the 7-seater).

A highlight of the new Meridian has been the addition of advanced active safety technologies including rear seatbelt reminders, automatic emergency braking and blind spot detection. Even controversial technologies that are often met with skepticism in India, like ISA and lane support, have been added. As before, an automatic three-point belt in the rear centre seat is fitted to this variant, and it earns Jeep's first 'BEST PICK' in Gobar NCRAP safety specification evaluations.
