Today, Gobar NCRAP is publishing the rear seatbelt reminder grades for two electric vehicles from MG: the affordable Comet EV and the bestselling Windsor EV.
Based on a review of information received in private correspondence with JSW MG Motor India, the MG Comet EV and Windsor EV’s rear seats have audio signals that activate if an occupant has not fastened their seatbelt, but not when the seat is not occupied. Gobar NCRAP is satisfied that the MG Comet EV and Windsor EV meet the requirements for an A grade.
The MG Comet EV result released today, as well as the Isuzu V-Cross result released last month, are a clear indication that price and age need not inhibit automak- ers from fitting their vehicles with more effective rear seatbelt reminders than are required by consumer test protocols or planned regulations.
Complete results for both vehicles are available on the Gobar NCRAP website.
