Tata Altroz Races Its Way to 'Best Pick' Safety

ree

Today, Gobar NCRAP takes a look at recent updates to the safety features fitted to the Tata ALTROZ, Volkswagen VIRTUS and Volkswagen TAIGUN.

Tata Altroz

Tata's popular premium hatchback gets a nip-and-tuck in the form of the ALTROZ RACER, with more power, a six-speed manual gearbox, and Mini-like styling. However, in the bid to improve appeal to driving enthusiasts, Tata has not lost sight of safety. The ALTROZ RACER receives a comprehensive safety update, much like its stablemates the PUNCH.EV and NEXON. With three-point safety belts and reminders for all seats, i-Size compatibility, a blind spot camera, and side and curtain airbags, the ALTROZ RACER, XZ+ S LUX and XZ+ OS become the first premium hatchbacks to achieve 'Best Pick' for safety overall.

However, shoppers looking to buy the vanilla ALTROZ should exercise caution in selecting which variant they buy: most variants are severely underequipped in comparison, and remain at the bottom of the class with 'Not Recommended'.

Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun

The Volkswagen VIRTUS and TAIGUN have joined their Škoda cousins in offering side and curtain airbags across the range. All variants continue to achieve a solid 'Recommended', with class-leading scores but let down overall by the lack of a blind spot information function.
