Rumion's Safety Falls Short of Stablemates

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

All variants of Toyota's new Rumion midsize MPV have been awarded the second-lowest rating of 'Fair'.

While the Rumion offers some safety technologies expected of modern cars, like rear seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX anchorages and electronic stability control, it does not have the level of safety offered on other Toyota models. Unlike its stablemates (and even direct rivals like the recently updated Kia Carens), the Rumion has only a two-point static lapbelt in the rear centre seat, and doesn't offer head-protecting curtain airbags even as an option.

Results for the Suzuki Ignis, Ertiga and Ciaz have also been updated to reflect the fitment of seatbelt reminders for the rear seats.
