Hard 'Sel'tos on Safety Features from Kia

Updated: Sep 6, 2024

Today, Gobar NCRAP includes the Kia New Seltos in the safety feature comparison for midsize SUVs and also updates the result for the Suzuki Invicto large MPV.

Kia's recently refreshed Seltos brings important improvements over its predecessor, particularly in the area of active safety. All variants of the New Seltos feature safety belt reminders for the rear seats, moving the standard Seltos up a notch to the highest overall rating: Best Pick. Higher variants also feature an advanced safety assist suite including a forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and lane support, and a more sophisticated blind spot detection system now complements the earlier camera-based blind spot monitor. However, results of independent crash-testing on the New Seltos, perhaps been one of the most widely criticised aspects of its predecessor, remain unavailable.

Suzuki's spree of adding rear safety belt reminders to its fleet continues with the recently launched Invicto large MPV, as this feature is now made available on even the lower 'Zeta+' variant. However, because of the lack of a tyre deflation warning, the standard Invicto still does not score enough points in the Emergency Intervention section to qualify for an improved overall rating.
