Final Results for the Quarter

ree

Today, Gobar NCRAP publishes the final results for the second quarter of the year. Next month, Q2 results for all segments will be compiled and archived to help pre-owned car buyers keep track of how the safety equipment of any cars they may shortlist has changed with time.

In today's release, two niche cars are rated. The BYD e6, an electric two-row MPV (classified in our ratings as Large SUV), narrowly achieves 'Best Pick', but with a catch - unlike most other 'Best Pick's, the e6 does not offer curtain airbags or any form of side head protection. It makes up with a respectable suite of active safety features that encourage its occupants to follow best practices in safety and warn or intervene in emergency scenarios like skidding or sudden tyre deflation.

In contrast, Citroën's funky C5 Aircross premium SUV achieves a much more robust 'Best Pick', joining the likes of competitors. The C5 offers a strong suite of safety assist technologies and also has all the occupant restraint systems expected of a modern car.

Note to readers:

The report for midsize sedans has been updated following the discovery of the i-Size compatibility of serial production units of the latest generation of Hyundai Verna. Although this does not change either of its ratings, we apologise for the error.
