Today, Gobar NCRAP is publishing the rear seatbelt reminder grades for three hatchbacks: the newly launched facelift of the Tata Altroz, and the popular twin models Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
Based on a review of documentation, the audio signals for the rear seatbelt reminders in the Baleno and Glanza (units produced from July 2024) do not activate even when an occupant is present and unbelted, unless a previously fastened belt changes status to unfastened mid-drive. The visual signal is a basic belt status display. This system is given C grade.
Meanwhile, multiple media reviews* released today for the new Altroz suggest that the audio signal for its rear seatbelt reminders activates even when occupants are absent. This system is also given C grade in the 2025 Gobar Grades.
Complete results for all three vehicles are available on the Gobar NCRAP website.
