Today, Gobar NCRAP is revealing the results of the fourth 2025 Gobar Gradings, evaluating four 4x4s to the new 2025 criteria.
The Force GURKHA and the 3-door Mahindra THAR do not have rear seat belt reminders and wind up with D grades.
The Maruti Suzuki JIMNY receives C-grade for rear seat belt reminders. On unbuckled seats, it illuminates a warning lamp in the instrument cluster from the start of the trip. However, since it omits rear occupant detection, it must wait (for models produced after 9 July) for a fastened rear seatbelt to become unbuckled before engaging its audio signals, which can be expected to result in excessive false negatives.
In this release, only the Mahindra THAR ROXX receives A-grade for rear seat belt reminders. The off-roader has 'intelligent' reminders capable of detecting rear occupants based on weight, and activates neither its audio nor visual signals on empty seats with unfastened seatbelts, but activates both when it detects that the seat is occupied.
